This DIY non-toxic hand soap how-to was provided by my sweet friend, Jen. Jen is a fellow PA-C, mom of two precious babies, non-toxic cleaning supplies enthusiast and the equivalent to superwoman. A true inspiration.

Hand soap seems to be a hot commodity right now, along with toilet paper and ground beef. I may not be able to make my own ground beef or toilet paper but I sure as heck can make my own hand soap, and easily. Importantly, this hand soap is both naturally antimicrobial and free of toxic chemicals!

About 3 years ago I switched all of our household cleaners and my beauty supplies to “non-toxic” products. After reading The Toxin Solution by Dr. Joseph Pizzorno and doing some of my own research I was more than eager to make the change, and it was honestly one of the best decisions I’ve made. While it’s important to me that my products be non-toxic, I’m not willing to sacrifice quality. This hand soap has naturally derived non-toxic ingredients AND a high quality luxurious feel. Amazing.

I recently bought this pretty hand soap dispenser at Target, which instantly brought a little cheer to my kitchen.

Castile soap can be found on Amazon.com and at most big name stores like Target, Kroger, and Walmart in the beauty section. Dr. Bronner’s is by far the most well-known and widely used brand of castile soap… for sure the OG of non-toxic soaps. As far as the rosehip oil, I recommend the Now brand, which I also use to make a fabulous DIY non-toxic face serum.

Ingredients

• 2 Tbsp castile soap
• 12 drops of essential oil ( Jen recommends thieves, I used citrus bergamot which is a perfect kitchen scent)
• Splash of vitamin E oil or rosehip oil (optional, approximately 1 tsp)
• water

Directions

Add the castile soap, essential oil, and vitamin E or rosehip oil to a hand soap dispenser. Fill to the top with water. Gently shake to combine and voila! Your very own homemade non-toxic (but also antimicrobial!) hand soap.

A pandemic and the resulting cleaning supplies shortage don’t have anything on you now.
